Let's get the elephant in the room out in the open. This is an expensive unit. If you're looking for a budget or even medium-priced solution, this is not it. Be sure that you are needing what this offers or else there might be more cost effective solutions out there.

Having said that, this is an amazing unit. It's fast, in a way that is rare these days. Need to have devices that can use the speed. It's also amazingly fast for wired ethernet as well. I purchased it because my computer and my NAS both have 10 GBe and I wanted a fast connection between them. This had the built in two port 10GBe switch that I was needing. The other port is enough for what I need. The satellite allows for four more items to plugged in via ethernet. It is also backward compatible, so I purchased a wifi 6 satellite for remote ethernet at one end of the house (I didn't need anything more that GBe).

Coverage is fantastic. It's covering my house (3000 sq ft) across both stories and most of the surrounding yard.

Set up couldn't be easier. Having come from Orbi units, this was even easier. The cell phone app works well and has many of the functions I need.

End result: powerful unit, but with a comparable price.

I recently received the eero MAX 7 as a gift for my birthday, and it has been a game-changer. Earlier this year, I had purchased the eero pro 6e (2 units), which I was already quite happy with. However, I noticed that my mother needed one, so I gave her my eero pro 6e and got the eero MAX 7 for my apartment. Ever since I started using it, I have been blown away by its incredible performance. The download speed has increased from 981 MB to 1.3 Gig, and I no longer have to worry about my work video calls dropping like they did before. I used to think that the network service in my area was the problem, but it turned out that the many routers in the building and the interference from all the devices using the 2.4 GHz band were causing the issue. Now, I can work from home with great internet bandwidth without any interruption, and I couldn't be more satisfied. Although the eero MAX 7 is expensive, it's worth every penny in my opinion. You’ll see on the pics posted my download speed increased from 983 MB with eero pro 6e to 1.31 G with Euro MAX 7!!!

Not only am I experiencing faster speeds compared to my previous router, but the coverage it provides is simply outstanding. I installed 4 of the eero MAX 7 and put an eero 6 in the shed to handle my new 5Gb Fiber connection to my large home. Have had it running for a month now and could not be more pleased. Awesome highspeed coverage for the whole house and yard. Also installed one of the eero 10 port POE Gateway for the Ring Cameras that are wired. Backhaul is done through a 5 port 10GB unmanaged switch. Great seamless integration. Set-up in the eero App was simple. Signed up for the eero Plus and enabled internet back-up through a spare Hotspot as my Fiber connection is new and the reliability is unknown. The ability to identify and custom name all the devices on the network is helpful. Extremely reliable coverage everywhere throughout the house. I also appreciate the number of highspeed connections on the back of each unit. This adds a layer of flexibility that is excellent. This product is worth the investment. Parental Control and the add blocker is a handy option.

The Eero 7 has the same eero simplicity and reliability of prior models, yet now provides multi-gig LAN networking capability.

Recommendations:
- Consider buying at least one eero 7 to enable a multi gig lan infrastructure as no other eero can do so.
- Consider using eero pro 6Es as access points rather than buying multiple eero 7’s. (At least for now til WiFi 7 laptops, PCs and phones are readily available)
- Use Ethernet cabling to connect your Eeros. You won’t be disappointed. This is the single best thing you can do to improve speeds and coverage.
- Don’t be too quick to replace old Ethernet cat 5e or above as it CAN DEFINITELY support multi gig speeds over 5 to 25 foot runs

Here’s my network objective, lan architecture and results

Objective: For now I don’t need 10 gbps but I’d like to have bilateral 2.5 gbps lan with option to upgrade in the future to 10 gbps should the need arise.

ISP status: My current ISP only provides 1.4 gbps service but fiber is being strung in my neighborhood by two different ISPs simultaneously with both promising up to 10 gbps bilateral service - soon.

Challenges of home environment: I have a large three story 170 year old granite exterior walled stone home with interior plaster walls and a detached carriage barn. There are numerous smallish rooms with many WiFi blocking walls. The house has prior cat5e cabling throughout which can carry multigig speed at short distances of 5-20 feet even though cat5e is only rated at 1 gbps beyond a 30 ft run. All of my cable runs are less than 20 feet.

Design architecture: I’m using the eero 7 as my primary router. Using one of its 10 gbps port to attach to the ISP modem and the second 10 gbps port to connect to two 2.5 gbps switches in the basement for an Ethernet backhaul across all my cat 5e cabling. I’ve connected 5 prior-owned eero pro 6e access points to the switches via the Ethernet cat5e cabling, placing them at 5 strategic locations in my home and barn. I have a variety of additional spare ethernet lan ports around the home.

Rationale and tradeoffs. The eero 7 was key to powering up the multi gig lan as the chipset in the eero pro 6e limits one of its two ethernet ports to 1 GBPs. (That means you can input multi gig speeds to an eero 6e as a primary router but the eero 6E can’t output multi gig speeds to your Ethernet lan and downstream eero pro 6e access points). I chose not to replace the 5 eero pro 6es with eero 7’s due to cost of 5 additional eero 7’s for now and instead am using the eero 6Es as Ethernet backhaul connected 2.5gbps access points. I also chose the 2.5 gbps switches instead of 10 gbps switches as a cost tradeoff savings of about $400. So my total cash outlay of $1,000 was for the two switches and one eero 7.

Results: For my 5ghz wireless clients I’m pulling 650 mbps flawlessly in every room of my home without any distance based degradation. Clients seamlessly handoff between access points as I walk from room to room. For my wifi6e clients on a 1.4 gbps ISP feed I’m pulling 1.3 gbps within 10-15 feet of every access point. All of My wired Ethernet ports pull steady 1.34 gbps off the internet. I have not clocked the intranet lan speed internal to the home but the switch indicator lights on each of the switches’ ports acknowledge a 2.5 gbps connection to each eero pro 6e access point via the green indicator lights. All of my 4k tvs connect wirelessly with outstanding performance. My wireless SONOS system of 14 devices throughout the home are all connected to the wireless lan and plays flawlessly without any drops. (I wouldn’t recommend connecting any SONOS device via Ethernet, as then Sonos will automatically set up its own private parallel wireless network to communicate to the other Sonos products which will not be as widespread and strong as your Ethernet based backhaul LAN with the eeros). My security panels and cameras are all connected via 5ghz with no more warnings of connection issues. I’ve supported 5 simultaneous networked teleconference sessions with several broadcasting 4k video. No glitches.

Future plans: I’ll upgrade my isp connection to either 2 or 5 gbps bilateral connections once the fiber infrastructure in my neighborhood is complete and will retest speeds and republish. Should I ever decide to get into gaming, ill upgrade the isp to 10 gbps but the eero 7 is in my home office where I’d game so I’d need only insert one 10gbps switch on the outbound port of the eero 7 and then Ethernet connect the gaming console to it along with the downstream switches in the basement. I just don’t currently see the need to upgrade the rest of the eero pro 6e access points until phones and computers readily support WiFi 7 and applications exist beyond gaming that require 3-10 GBPs communications.

I hesitated spending the money updating to the eero Max 7, especially since I currently don’t have any devices with WiFi 7 capability. But I do have multiple devices with WiFi 6E and I read that the WiFi 7 standard also has benefits for devices using older standards. . With the eero Pro 6E wireless access points, these devices were not consistently connecting on the 6 GHz band. So I decided to give the eero Max 7 a try. Since adding it to my home network, all my WiFi 6E devices (from Meta, Apple and MSI) are now getting solid 6 GHz connections. Plus my legacy devices still requiring a 2.4 GHz connection have more stable connection as well. Not sure if the 2.4 GHz improvement is because of the eero Max 7 or from eero software updates, but the 2.4 GHz connections have been a weak point since the original eero’s.

I also really like the multiple wired Ethernet ports on the back of the eero Max 7, with two 2.5 and 2 10 gigabit EtherNet ports. This has allowed me to plug my gaming PC with 2.5 gigabit Ethernet port directly into the eero 7 without have to buy another switch.

The only downside, and it is minor, is that the eero Max 7 is substantially larger than the earlier models. It took me a while to decide where to put it, and I eventually bought a wall mount kit that solved even that minor problem. Overall I’m very happy with the eero Max 7.

I purchased this weeks ago so that I wasn’t reliant on AT&T’s gateway for everything. Also, from past experience the gateway can only deliver less than half of 2.5gbps wirelessly and the built-in DHCP quits serving addresses after 90 devices or so.

The Eero has been every bit as reliable as my 3 node 6 Pro was that I was using beforehand. 2.5gbps wired is no issue and my 15 Pro Max averages 1300mbps up and down, compared to around 700mbps on the 6 Pro. I have not had a single issue crop up that has required a reboot, no slowdowns, nor heat issues of any kind. In my experience it’s far superior to Asus and TP-Link’s offerings and is as stable as my Amplifi Alien was. I’d have no problem recommending this to someone and would purchase one again personally.

I was a very early eero user (2014!) but encountered various issues that kept me on the sideline. The biggest issue was the lack of 10G support for my AT&T 5Gbps service. That all changed when eero 7 came out with dual 10Gbps ports on each device.

I made the jump again and got 3 eero 7's that I put in the same place as my previous eero's and the Asus WiFi router and mesh units I had in between. The initial setup for the gateway unit was very easy. I initially set it up behind the AT&T router to keep it simple. Once the gateway was set up and I had started my 2-month trial subscription to eero Plus, I was in business within less than 10 minutes. Mind you, it had done its firmware update during that time, and I had configured my IP range, set up some rules, etc. It was that easy. I then added the 2 additional units within less than 10 minutes, most of which was because of firmware updates, too. The gateway has a wired connection to my 10Gbps switch and mesh connections to the additional units.

The performance didn't disappoint. My networked devices get the full 5Gbps. My WiFi 7 PC gets close to that. My Apple devices get close to 2Gbps anywhere in the house.

After testing and 3 days of extensive use, I enabled IP Passthrough on the AT&T router, providing eero full internet access for features such as DDNS. It was a very easy process that didn't even require a reboot of either device. This change made no difference to the throughput speed.

The eero approach and ease of use have some limitations for people who like to fiddle with network settings, but for my use, it's perfect. Is it odd to pay a subscription for the eero Plus services? No, it is providing immediate value. Are the units expensive? No, by the time you buy a similar setup from Asus with 2 mesh units, it's a wash. I got 20% discount when I bought the units (thank you. Amazon!) which made it a great deal and such a wonderful upgrade to my network.

I highly recommend eero 7.

I live in a 3000sqft home, I have 1 of these in the center of my home. I run almost 45 different devices on wifi, this thing handles them all like a champ. I personally use a Samsung S24U to take advantage of the WiFi7 and it is incredible! Streams with no interruptions. It's nice that I can actually get the full 5k on LAN. If you want to access your true speed this is the way to go.

Extraordinary speed. Super easy install. One thing I didn’t realize, when I got this Series 7 system, I was planning on replacing my older Eero pro 6’s entirely but was able to add them on, giving the house outstanding coverage. The devices that can handle the speed use the new units & older ones use the slower speeds of the eero pros. Lightening the overall load per unit. I was able to put extra units in spare bedrooms & areas that gave me better coverage for some outdoor security cameras that had some difficulty connecting before. The signal strength is excellent throughout the house. No dead zones.
The units themselves are larger than I thought having never seen them in person, but they work fine even in tight spaces due to the vertical design that leaves a smaller footprint even as compared to the older units. The entire setup only took maybe 20 mins. Including placing the older units in other areas. Very happy with the quality of the picture on my newer iPads & Apple TV’s. The difference is amazing highly recommend.
