If you're willing to spend a little more from the AR-750S (slate). WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY

As someone who travels and lives as a nomad, Beryl is an absolute beast when it comes to being a repeater. I've tried Creta, Slate and this one I have now and there's no contest. Beryl's antennas to receive the signal as a repeater from what I've seen is twice as strong as Slate's ability. Mind you, Slate (AR-750S) is great! But Beryl's ability and speed is significantly better. Blew my mind when I ran tests of how much strong it is compared to Slate. I plan to buy another one once they come back in stock and trading my friend's Slate for it (since this was his original gift lol). Creta (AR750) doesn't even come close to being good compared to these two as a repeater. But it does have its advantages of cost.

Keep in mind reader, this is based on use for Wifi Repeating. That's my personal/business needs.

For those experiencing WiFi disconnects

I've read a few reviews about the WiFi disconnecting/reconnecting/randomly dropping. I found out what it was and here is how, and how to fix it.

First, if you have 2.4ghz devices, make sure you disable 802.111ax feautres entirely, and put the signal in 'legacy' mode. This stabilizes all of your 2.4ghz devices. My smart outlets kept dropping, but not any of my 5ghz 802.111ax devices. I examined the 2.4ghz settings and it was noted in the router's interface that if you experience connection problems, don't enable 6G mode/802.11ax, and put into legacy mode. After a week - zero issues. Hope that helps.

For my more advanced devices, this router has been amazing. It's doubled the speed of the previous ASUS router I had easily, and has proven to be superior for video streaming and gaming. It is a solid router, but you do need to RTFM and do a little bit of research with the connection problems. There is nothing wrong with the router, its just more advanced than a lot of the older devices you own, and legacy compatibility setting will fix this.

Awesome Router. Buy it for it's performance now, not the Wifi 6 promise

This router replaced a great R7800 router which itself was doing fine but found a place elsewhere. Having worked with routers from Netgear to Apple to Ubiquity, I have to say - despite the high price I love this router. It's done the best job of any single-router setup in a large family dwelling, no dropouts, reliable, good features. It's fast - and I mean, operationally, and when I am sending large amounts of data between AC clients; this is where the Quad CPU setup really shines. The unit handles DFS exceptionally well, too - for once, Netgear gave it access to all DFS channels, and I see much less flipping (and issues after) than on the previous R7800 unit. Things like IPv6 and Smart Connect work well (current firmware).

Don't buy this for the Wifi-6 promise. In a year+, Wifi 6 (having just been certified) will gain 2 more frequencies, clients that have Wifi6 capability are just coming out, and there is no advantage to Wifi 5 or 'older' devices. At all. But, you know what - if you can forget the price tag, I found this to be overall the best 'today' router I could find.

Great choice for larger, older home

Got this Nighthawk X6 AC3200 and a NETGEAR CM1000 cable modem to replace a NETGEAR N450 cable modem/router combo, which was constantly either moving at molasses speeds or would constantly drop the signal. This new setup is superb. We have a large older home with multiple floors and extra thick plastered walls, and where our old setup would give us 30mbps the farthest away from the router on a good day, with this new setup speeds clocked in at 257mbps in the same location. Our device mix includes home security video, smart tv’s, smartphones, tablets, gaming consoles, computers and a printer. WiFi was so poor previously that some of us would just turn it off and rely on our cellular service to use the internet. Not anymore.

One of the iPads is a second generation that was put away for a long time since it was so slow. Now that we’re able to designate which band to use, Internet-based apps working at top speeds now make it feel like a brand new device.

Some useful guidance for setting this up as an AI mesh node

I bought this router to use as a node in an Asus AI mesh system and had a heck of a time setting it up, despite having set up Asus AI mesh systems in the recent past. I finally figured out I was doing one minor thing wrong and wanted to share this for anyone experiencing issues in setting their AX-3000 up as an AI mesh node.

The problem was this -- my main router would recognize this AX-3000 as a node, would go through the setup process, but would ultimately be unable to connect it. For some context, I was looking to add the AX-3000 as the third router in an existing mesh system. The other routers were my main router (Asus RT-AX89X) and an existing node (Asus RT-AC68U).

Ultimately, the solve to get the AX-3000 connected to my mesh system was to unplug the RT-AC68U. Once I did this, I was able to connect the AX-3000 as a node to the main router. I then plugged the RT-AC68U back in and all three routers worked properly.

TL:DR -- Unplug any existing AI mesh nodes when setting up a new node. Once the new node is added, you can plug the existing node/s back in.

As you can see from the attached picture - the speed while using a Dell android ac tablet nearly 100 feet away in a different room from this Synology FR2600AC router nearly maxed out my internet connection. Streaming 4K HDR amazon and netflix without issue. Actually able to stream four, 4K streams on different devices without buffering or interruption. Previous $300 Asus router wasn't able to do this.

Update: Year 3 and flawless. Highly recommended.

Running SRM Version: SRM 1.2.3-8017 Update 3 firmware that was recently released (VERY FAST so make sure you get the latest version) - required two updates and reboots out of the box. Each update took around 5 minutes. Up and running after a few tweaks in under 15 minutes total.

Time to upgrade if you have very fast wifi

I am a "tech" guy have been for decades. I almost always buy the latest technology so I can experience it.

So far so good. I do still have 2 Eero Pro's second generation as my satellites 2 more Pro 6's arriving tomorrow I am excited to see what that does.

I did have to turn on "Legacy Mode" in troubleshooting for a day but once I did and then turned it back off I am seeing the highest speeds I have ever seen on my network.

I am happy enough with it I will have 4 Eero Pro 6's when I am done.

make sure you're near cell towers to use. It's worse reception than a cheap cell phone and the internet data rate and signal strength show it. But it works. Make sure you set your connection in the admin page to always be enabled or you have to manually connect the device each time. Also some config page options for wireless settings just do not work. Couldn't find the firmware update online - found a place but no firmware available. Would be impressed if a high school student made this in class but disappointed as a consumer. I ended up having to just manually put in my mac addresses as the only allowed traffic to use the wireless and then set up deny all and unsecured wireless network. My phone is always faster .

finally a router that just works

I initially had purchased NETGEAR Nighthawk Smart WiFi Router (R6900P) - AC1900. I got to admit the misleading/fake number of amazon reviews and star average rating - paired with its cool spaceship like design made me opt for Netgear's product first.... But, after spending multiple unfruitful hours with tech support because or poor quality issues and frequent disconnects I decided to return it and purchased Linksys Dual-Band WiFi Router for Home (Max-Stream AC1900 MU-Mimo Fast Wireless Router).

Speed test are perfect as I'm able to utilize my full 300/300Mps bandwidth at full speed OVER WIFI - no need for ethernet cables to reach that full speed ( i have Verizon Fios). With Netgears Nighthawk i had to plug in the ethernet cable to reach those speeds as something in that lousy devise was limiting the bandwidth over wifi.

Very good so far with one odd/annoying quirk during setup

I don't have a home internet provider. I live alone, why pay for internet twice. Instead I use this as a WISP router, which connects to my unlimited internet phone and provides my various devices at home with internet. I previously used a different WISP router (BTW not every router is WISP capable, make sure to double check), which was very good, but was 2ghz only. I also live in an apartment building that's getting pretty congested on 2ghz, which I think was causing me some issues. So I mostly got this for the 5ghz, which is what I'm using now, and I've had zero of the weird connection (or range) issues I was having using 2ghz since going to this. It behaves the way I want it to, in that when I get home, it sees that I'm home (e.g. continuously polls for it's uplink) and connects to my phone and my devices come alive (believe or not there are devices where this is not the case, I've tried them [have to be rebooted to poll for uplink]). After setup, I've had zero trouble so far.

Quadrupled my speed

Quadrupled my speed at home. There are 4 important points I'd like to make:

1) All these years I paid for a 50mbps speed from my cable company. I had an older Netgear from 2009 which has served me well all these years (and still works) but I decided it was time to upgrade. Typically I was getting only 12-17mbps through my wi-fi (for example, to my iPhone6). After getting this Nighthawk Router, I now get 57mbps on the same iPhone. All of my devices are much faster now... PS4, iPhones, iPads, Epson Printer, Baby Monitor, Tablets, Roku 3 box, Roku Streaming Stick, etc...

2) Cables .... Please note, one other thing I did in addition to getting this router is that I also bought all new cat6 cables (from Amazon Basics), and that has helped the router to connect well to the cable modem. From the router itself, I have a few wired items (Roku 3 box, PS4, my PC). And note that I tested the Roku 3 box, PS4, and PC wirelessly as well. In all conditions, wired with Cat6 cables and/or wi-fi, this Nighthawk router has delivered the speeds I was missing for years.

Beautiful Design Easy To Set Up Works Great

Though my existing two WiFi routers function throughout the home in Long Island New York I made the mistake of accepting the expensive fancy but really frustrating wireless iComfort Internet connected thermostats for my new central air-conditioning units. The one downstairs is merely 30 or so feet from the WiFi routers that all devices can see but it does not. So I had to get an extender just for that. With the prices of these great devices now quite affordable it was not really the money aspect of it (which is still an irritant) but the fact that a new device has to be purchased, taking up space, wasting more energy, etc. I had tried a cheaper popular model but it was nothing but a pain. So I went with this brand that I know and love having my 3D laptop workstation with, ASUS. As always, a quality product, well designed, really easy to set up, works flawlessly, and looks great. I placed it next to my now nearly 9 years old iMac which I use as a server for my personal business server. It has been on WiFi for years but obviously it does not support the latest fastest WiFi standards. Now I can have one of the ethernet ports of this extender plugged into the iMac and, though still WiFi but now through the ASUS, the speed difference in the iMac's performance is visually noticeable. Highly recommend this over any cheap units.

A Bargain - No Documentation Included

Ordered the "Renewed" product due to significant savings over the identical new product AND the Amazon Guarantee. The product I received was in the original packaging but it lacked proper packing, The 3 units could have bounced together but they did not seem harmed. Other than a small smudge on one of the units, they looked brand new. As previous reviews have stated, there was no documentation included. However as I was replacing an existing Google Mesh WiFi (First Generation) I was familiar with the installation procedure. The other problem was the lack of one proper power supply for one of the units. This has also been reported by previous reviews. I was frustrated and I emailed the vendor and they promptly replaced the power unit. I was delayed a couple of days in the installation but that was the only issue. There was no issue with the installation. The units are operating as if they were new. All in all I would purchase the "Renewed" product again. Honestly you can't go wrong with the Amazon Guarantee.

So far it is ok.

Upgraded from Asus AC3200. Signal strength is good. It can handle the entire home. 6GHz band does not work at this moment at least with Intel AX210 card that I installed on my laptop. Perhaps a firmware update and driver update in the next few months will address this issue.

Update 02/08/2021: I was able to see the 6GHz band after updating the AX210 to Intel 20.30.0.11 driver that I found in another website and enabling 6GHz in Windows registry. However I was not able to connect successfully.

Update 02/26/2021 6GHz works on Intel AX210 with the new driver but only if "Opportunistic Wireless Encryption" is being used for authentication method. WPA-3 Personal still not working.

Fix for "Connected, no internet" - (hint: disable MU-MIMO)

For the most part, this router works flawlessly. The biggest issue I had was with keeping my Samsung S7 Edge connected to the Internet. I would continually see the message "Connected, no internet" on my WiFi settings page of my phone. I would have to disable WiFi on my phone, then re-enable it, and this would work for a few minutes. I had other laptops, tablets, printers, Roku devicess, Nest thermostats, and phones that could stay connected without any trouble, by my S7 Edge was driving me crazy. I'm not sure who is at fault, but either Samsung or Linksys has messed something up in their implementation of MU-MIMO. I say that because the fix for "Connected, no internet" for me was to disable MU-MIMO on the router. After logging in to the router's web admin interface, manually change the URL from "home.html" to "advanced-wireless.html". Look on the available tabs for the option to disable MU-MIMO. I disabled MU-MIMO and now my Samsung S7 Edge stays connected perfectly.

Great parental controls solution

We got Circle because we have a mix of PCs and iDevices. I could not stand constantly telling my children to get off the computer and then arguing with them, "just 5 more minutes...." Now at bedtime, Circle just turns off the internet. Much better than my nightly attempts to pry them off. If they want more time, they have to come to me and ask. Reasonable requests are accommodated.

By child, I am able to schedule when the internet is available and for how long. I created a profile for each child and added multiple devices (iPads & iPhones). It is worth taking the time to adjust the filters. For example, I let my son have unlimited access to Gmail, but limit gaming. We give them more time on the weekend than weekdays so we can sleep. I know, bad parenting but we get some extra sleep.

Best Router I've ever owned!

Prior to buying the XR500 I'd owned a budget Asus Router. That little router served me well for many years but it always ran really hot and we finally had to retire it. We recenty moved to a much larger house than we had been in about 2700 Sq. Ft. from 1400 Sq. Ft. and in addition purchased several 4K TV's which we didn't have before. We noticed a lot of buffering issues and sometimes simple stuff just wouldn't load at all. We also had low signal strength upstairs which I believe was part of the issue. Although even over Ethernet on a 300Mbps connections we'd have issues. I read some things online stating that some older routers may have trouble with the added bandwidth 4K brings as well.As a gamer I always enjoy getting the best hardware I can for my budget. Seeing as how my router is the backbone of just about everything I do I wanted to invest in it. So far absolutely no regrets. Haven't had one hiccup yet. I have full signal strength throughout my entire home and beyond and have not noticed any drop outs which were happening frequently prior. I haven't come anywhere close to playing with all the settings haha but I'll have some fun with that one of these days. I just hope it lasts a very long time because I'm very happy with this Router. Way to go Netgear!
